The following proposal is for a website overhaul and to create a wider online presence strategy for Sherlock & Neal Ltd in order to attract more clients.


The Challenge: What Our Client Needs

Sherlock and Neal, is an established joinery shop and full-service building contractors. The current website is a brochure style WordPress site displaying a list of services, ‘about us’ info and contact information.

  • WordPress is a fantastic tool but currently isn’t being used to its full ability.
  • The theme template used to build the site ‘BeTheme’ is outdated. It requires replacing with a modern lite theme like ‘Elementor‘.
  • Customer feedback on the website, gives the impression they are too high end.
  • The site still needs to showcase high-end works and target these projects but should appeal more affordable for smaller projects.
  • Although SEO is in place it is outdated.
  • The target areas citations need adjusting to pick areas such as West Chiltington, Dorking and Reigate.
  • Case studies and updates need adding regularly with targeted SEO keyphrases.

627,000 google search returns are currently showing for the term ‘builders in horsham’, sherlock and neal used to be in the number 1 slot but since has been superseded by a number of rivals due to not doing any updates and even smaller outfits such as have climbed onto the first page. This example is just for the Horsham area, if we included other Sussex / Surrey towns and villages the numbers increase dramatically. Keeping the site updated and appearing on the first page for chosen search terms really is something I would recommend to increase inquires.

Our Proposed Solution

I recommend sticking with WordPress as the CMS and adding some new plugins and theme in order to grow the on-page presence as well as working on some external links and social media pages, to generate more inbound inquires.

  • Copy existing content and images into the new theme.
  • MonsterInsights Google Analytics plugin.
  • Yoast SEO plugin with all content optimised.
  • Bespoke SEO Coding and friendly URLs.
  • Max out site speed on both GT Metrix and Google Page Insights for desktop and mobile.
  • Live Chat integration allowing your website visitors to chat directly with you from your website.
  • Offpage SEO backlinks and social media links
  • Weekly updates that are written with SEO in mind.

Elementor is the best drag-and-drop page builder for WordPress on the market. The styling and look will keep similar to the current style but with updated content and images. By using the Elementor theme along with the listed plugins your site will be run extremely fast which is key for


Current competitor websites are cold and very “business” orientated, but people like to deal with real people. We like to know that someone is on the other end of the phone or inbox and that they genuinely care. I believe that by focusing on the service, the people and the experience behind Your Company Inc. we can create something that will elevate the Your Company Inc. brand to a point of reference for online meetings.


Measures of Success

A website redesign is nothing without a return on investment. Based on our previous discussions we believe that by achieving the following, we can bring Your Company Inc. to the forefront of the market.

    • Decrease cart abandonment by X%
    • Increase average time onsite by X%
    • Increase return visitors by X%
    • Increase newsletter drip campaign subscribers by X%


Option 1:

A pretty design is meaningless without great usability, a higher engagement of visitors and an overall increase in revenue. We will undertake a complete evaluation of before putting the figurative pen to paper.

In our experience redesigns can be potentially treacherous, they tear down the good the bad and the ugly. Which is why we measure everything. We won’t remove an element that is making you money!

By looking at the numbers, seeing what currently works and what doesn’t we will be in a solid position to build a website that will hit all of your business goals.

This includes everything from Option 1, and will also include setting up and managing a drip email retention campaign.

Getting visitors to your website is only one part of the battle. Getting them to stay around long enough to purchase is another altogether…

Drip email campaigns can help potential customers learn about Your Company Inc. and educate them as to how online meetings can save their businesses money. A solid drip email campaign, for both pre-purchase and post-purchase customers will add a significant increase in revenue.

As mentioned in our “Measures of Success”, we aim to increase signups by X% and revenue by X%.

This includes Options 1 & 2, and will also include a 6-month content marketing plan.

Having already increased the number of visitors staying on the website, signing up to the drip email campaigns and ultimately purchasing, the only thing left to do is to increase the number of people arriving at the website.

Content marketing is an essential strategy that not only works in the short term but will also bring you traffic for years to come. We’ll plan out and write 6 months worth of content for the Your Company Inc. blog. Furthermore we’ll make sure it gets in front of the right people, through redistribution and social marketing.

Solid evergreen content will increase overall traffic to the blog by X%. This gives more people the chance to sign up for your drip email campaigns and ultimately purchase.
